Shimmer is a female blue belton English Setter who was whelped, with my assistance, in Newcastle, CA. June 03, 2010. Shimmer's breeder is Norma J. Chadwell of Minaret English Setters.
Shimmer has a lot to look forward to in her future. Plans for her include the show ring, hunt tests, obedience, rally, and possibly breeding when she is old enough and if she passes all her clearances.
Shimmer made her dog show debut on Friday, December 31, 2010, at the San Mateo Kennel Club, Inc. dog show held in San Mateo, CA. and went RWB from the Puppy 6 & Under 9 Month Bitch class against competition from the Open Bitches class. She did a lovely job in the very capable hands of Krystal McGuire.
On Saturday and Sunday, February 12 & 13, 2011, Shimmer, at the tender age of 8 months, made her field debut at the Gold Country English Setter Fanciers Annual Hunt Test held at Grizzy Island in Susuin City, CA. and completed the first two legs of her Junior Hunter title with average scores of 8.25 out of 10 on Saturday and 9 out of 10 on Sunday. Due to the my physical limitations Shimmer was handled in the field by her trainer Steve Klassen of Blue Ride Kennels in Dixon, CA. Judges were Mari Anderson and Duff Lundy on Saturday and Pam Brann and Carl Sutton on Sunday.
On Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Vizsla Club of Northern California Hunt Test held at Hastings Island in Rio Vista, CA. Shimmer once again recieved very nice qualifying scores to earn her third Junior Hunter leg in some very wet, windy conditions. Shimmer was once again handled in the field by her trainer Steve Klassen of Blue Ride Kennels in Dixon, CA. Judges were Mari Anderson and Marion Sears. Unfortunately the Sunday hunt test was cancelled due to weather so that leaves Shimmer needing one more leg to finish her Junior Hunter title.
At the San Mateo Keneel Club, Inc. and Oakland Kennel Club shows held in Vallejo, CA. on March 26 & 27, 2011, Shimmer was first in the Puppy 9 & Under 12 Month Bitch class each day. On Saturday she was the only entry in her class but on Sunday she beat her sisters, Minaret Tupelo Honey and Minaret Into The Mystic who placed 2nd and 3rd. Shimmer was skillfully handled each day by Michael McGuire.
On Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the German Wirehair Pointer Club of Northern California Hunt Test held at Hastings Island in Rio Vista, CA. Shimmer completed her fourth and final leg for her Junior Hunter title at 10 months 6 days old. Shimmer was once again handled in the field by her trainer Steve Klassen of Blue Ride Kennels in Dixon, CA. Judges were Mari Anderson and Linda Azevedo. Shimmer is now "Minaret And Heather Glen's Glitter In The Air JH!
Just one week after completing her Junior Hunter title Shimmer hit the show ring at the Sacramento Kennel Club dog show held at Cal Expo in Sacramento, CA. and won her first AKC point by going WB on Sunday, April 17, 2011 under Judge Ms. Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine proving that she is indeed a very versatile little girl. Shimmer was beautifully presented in the show ring for this first point by Krystal McGuire.
